A Special Gift

Christmas, 2002
When I was young, I used to look for presents by the Christmas tree,
For stockings full of fruit and toys, that Santa Claus would bring to me.
When I was young, at Christmas time, there always was a special thing,
A gift I wanted most of all, a gift I hoped St. Nick would bring.
I knew this special gift I craved would make me happy, satisfy,
All the wants and needs I had, but I found out that by and by,
It did not seem to bring to me all I hoped and thought it would.
It broke or fell apart or did not do the things I thought it could.
So many people go through life looking for that special thing,
A gift they think will satisfy, a gift that will solve everything.
They do not know that long ago, that Special Gift they’re looking for,
Who will supply their every need and hope and life forevermore,
Came down to earth, the gift of God – a Savior born in Bethlehem –
Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, Who came to earth to die for them.
Yes, He was born, this Special Gift, the Savior of a dying world,
A gift for all who come to Him, for man and woman, boy and girl.
This Special Gift, Whose broken body brings salvation down to man,
Will satisfy our every need according to God’s perfect plan.
His perfect plan, unfailing love can satisfy your every need
.
Accept this Special Gift from God—Jesus, Savior, born to redeem.
