Fear Not!

Christmas, 2001
Once again it’s Christmas time, a time to celebrate
The birthday of the Son of God – a most important date.
This birth announced by angels to a special, chosen few
Would change the world and give us hope as nothing else can do.
Each time the angels told someone about the Savior’s birth,
They used the words “Fear not!” – two words we need now on this earth,
For fear abounds, it’s everywhere since the eleventh of September.
Is there still hope from what we celebrate in late December?
The answer’s a resounding “YES!” We have no need to fear.
God’s in control; He’s not surprised by what is happening here.
Yes, there’s still hope – it’s Jesus Christ, the bright and morning Star,
The mighty God, the Prince of Peace Who loves you where you are.
The evildoers like it when we cower down in fear
And change our lives and travel plans and lose our Christmas cheer.
Should we let fear control our lives and worry about tomorrow?
Should we allow ourselves to be beset by constant sorrow?
The answer’s a resounding “NO!” We have no need to fear.
God’s in control; He’s not surprised by what is happening here.
The Bible says if we will keep our mind focused on Him,
He’ll give us all that perfect peace, that hope that never dims.
We can’t control what happens, no matter what we do,
But trust in Him - He loves us so - we know He’ll see us through.
The parents of that little baby born in Bethlehem
Were told they should not be afraid – that God watched over them.
That same Creator, God Himself, is watching over you.
He loves you and He died for you – what He’s telling you is true.
There is no need to be afraid. We have no need to fear.
God’s in control; He’s not surprised by what is happening here.
So lay your burdens at His feet. Why should you be afraid?
The God Who cares for you keeps every promise ever made.
He’s said He’ll be right there with you through every storm and sorrow.
There is no need to worry about what might occur tomorrow.
